For Tara Thompson, it all started with MySpace. A self-taught Photoshop guru and avid band forum follower, she first discovered graphic design through the unique signatures and hopping profile pages of early social media. Now, equipped with credentials from the Graphic Design program at College of the North Atlantic and six years of experience as a freelance graphic artist, she prides herself on her ability to capture the essence of each project. She loves that design gives her the opportunity to support people doing what they love, by doing something she loves. Whether she’s working on websites, logos, merchandise, or album covers, Tara collaborates closely with clients to ensure her designs stay true to their vision.
Working closely with area musicians, she uses each design as an opportunity to showcase the passion and energy of each client’s endeavours. Her designs are often the visible culmination of their hard work. With her unique creative knack and easy going demeanour, Tara lets her art speak for itself. It’s obvious she’s on the right track, having been recognized both provincially and regionally for her work. Tara won the 2016 MusicNL for Graphic Artist of the Year and was nominated in the same category at the 2017 East Coast Music Awards.
When she’s not hard at work, Tara is a music buff. She keeps tabs on her favourite local acts, and can often be found at a show. Alternately, she’s kicked back with a Netflix queue full of true-crime documentaries.
